The cottage
This cottage is located at a quiet sandy road
in an area of small-scale arable land between woodlands. It’s a perfect place
to come to a complete rest. The cottage has been furnished for a stay of
maximum 6 persons. It provides a comfortable stay for four adults or two
adults and four children. Pets are not welcome! There are three bedrooms with: bedroom 1:
1 double bed with box spring mattresses (140 x 200 cm.) bedroom 2:
2 single beds (80 x 200 cm.) bedroom 3:
a bunk bed (90 x 200 cm.) Then there is a living, kitchen, bathroom with
shower, toilet and outside a sheltered spacious terrace. The kitchen The kitchen is equipped with gas cooker,
fridge, washing machine, electric
grill-oven, and everything else needed for a stay with 6 persons. The living room In the living room you find a
radio/c.d.-player, a dvd-player and a television set. Thanks to of a new
central heating system and also a nice little woodstove it is also nice and
warm in winter time. NEW Our guest now have the option to use wireless broadband internet. There now is a satellite receiver that offers
about 200 channels, including CNN and other English language programmes. Click here to see

At a distance of approx. 200 meters from
the cottage, you’ll find the ‘Bonnerplas’, a privately owned pond that
originates from the 1960’s when al lot of sand was used for constructing new
roads in marshland areas. This spot developed into a nice place where grey
herons come to catch their meal and during twilight you often see deer
approaching when they come to drink from the water. Our guests have free access to the pond as
long as they leave the place in peace. It is forbidden to take radios or
other music to the pond. Open fires are also forbidden. It’s a nice place for swimming (the water
is very deep at some places!), fishing or you can just enjoy the quietness
while sitting at the secluded little beach. The cottage ‘Bij de Bonnerplas’ is located
on ‘de Hondsrug’, which is a ridge in the old countryside of the province of
Drenthe. It stretches from the town of Coevorden (Southern Drenthe) to the
city of Groningen in the North. This area has been populated since long ago as
you may realise, when you see many megalithic tombs (Dutch: hunebedden) at
quite a few places in Drenthe. The ridge was ideal for constructing roads.
The road from Munster to Groningen is already to be seen at very old maps of
the area. This road was quite important in those days when the city of
Groningen belonged to the bishop of Munster. This road which formerly was one
of the main roads is now the quiet sandy road on which this cottage is

heating, water, electricity and tax. The rates do not include cleaning at
the end of your stay. There are no cleaning costs if you clean up yourself
and if you will leave the cottage in the same clean state as you found
it. If you wish you may use our
cleaning-service. After a stay up to one week the charge is €40, if you stay
longer it is €50. Please let us know
at the time of booking. If you wish you may take advantage of
our linen-service. You will find the beds made with sheets and pillow cases.
The charge is € 8,- per bed. Let us know how many and which beds you wish to
use. For other forms of advice or
assistance in Gieten or Gasselte you may call our house master (in Dutch

TRAIN TAXI From
Assen train station you can take a train taxi. This costs € 4,- a
person. Gieten is just outside of the area served by train taxi, therefore
you have to pay € 10,- extra for the trip./ per car (situation 1-12-2004) |
